Academic City awards scholarships to 12 students for the 2024/2025 academic year

Twelve students from across the country have received scholarships from Academic City University to pursue their university education without financial challenges. Out of the 12, seven received full Presidential Scholarships worth $40,000 each, three received full tuition waivers, and two were awarded a 50% fee discount.

The Presidential Scholarship covers four years of tuition, housing, meals, a laptop, a monthly stipend, and transportation for students outside Accra. It is a highly competitive award given annually to students who demonstrate excellent academic performance, leadership potential, and a strong desire to make a positive impact on society.

The seven Presidential Scholarship recipients included:

Affadu Danful Paapa

Inspired by Ghana’s energy challenges, he is pursuing Electrical Engineering with a vision to engineer solutions to the country’s persistent power issues.

Alicia Osei

A passionate advocate for women’s health, is delving into Biomedical Engineering, focusing on FemTech innovations that will revolutionize reproductive healthcare.

Amewu Sarah Akpedze

Drawn to the limitless possibilities of artificial intelligence, she is determined to be at the forefront of the AI revolution and contribute to Ghana’s technological advancements.

Nabie Rodrick Winese

Overcame significant personal hardships, channeling his experiences into academic excellence and leadership.

Bayel Isaac

Has a strong desire and commitment to using the education he will receive at Academic City to create positive change in his home region.

David Effah

A passionate advocate for clean and sustainable mining, he is determined to leverage his training in electrical engineering to develop sustainable mining solutions for small-scale miners.

Obiri-Yeboah Yaa Gyanwa

Worries about inadequate medical equipment and a lack of skilled repair personnel. She believes that Academic City’s education will equip her with the right skills to design user-friendly devices to improve health delivery in Ghana.

 

Academic City’s Presidential Scholarship is more than just financial aid; it is an investment in the future of Africa. Speaking on the scholarship initiative, Cyril Quansah-Quainoo, Public Relations Manager, Academic City, remarked, “At Academic City, we believe that talent should never be limited by financial constraints.
