Rotaract Club at Academic City University College Serving the Community

In a unique way to show compassionate care for humanity, students of Academic City University College Rotaract Club have made valuable donations of large quantities of food and assorted items to the Potters Village Home at Dodowa, Eastern Region.

The items donated included bags of rice, gallons of cooking oils, cartoons of milk, bags of sugar, bags of sachet water, toiletries, used and unused cloth materials and shoes, stationery, and buckets of paint.

In addition to the items donated, the students also presented a cheque of GHC 4,000 to support the home’s day-to-day management.

Presenting the items, Ms. Melissa Tafadzwa Penyai, President of Academic City Rotaract Club indicated that the donation formed part of the club’s objective to support the developmental needs of homes that cared for the less privileged in society.

“The donation is our small way of showing compassion to these under-privileged children who have big dreams of becoming great in the future but require the much-needed attention, love, and protection to make their dreams a reality”, she noted.

Ms. Penyai encouraged the management of the home to ensure the children are nurtured to become responsible adults who would contribute their quota to the development of the African continent.

Mrs. Jane Irina Adu, Founder of Potter’s Village who received the donation on behalf of the home expressed gratitude to the students of Academic City and pledged to ensure the items are used to support the welfare of the children.

She appealed to corporate organizations and individuals to also come on board to assist at the home which currently has over 50 children under its care.
